Raymond Falgui Wins Salanga Writers' Prize for Children's Poetry
The Salanga Writer's Prize is an annual competition for writers for children organized by the Philippine Board on Books for Young People (PBBY). Named after Alfredo Salanga, one of the founding members of the organization, the award is given out during National Children's Book Day.

The 2010 edition of the Salanga Prize asked for children's poetry instead of the traditional children's short story. This year's winner is Raymond Falgui, fictionist, poet, and English professor at UP Diliman. Previous winners were Raymond Garlitos, Nanoy Rafael, Jeanette Patindol, among others.

Winners of the Salanga Prize receive a cash prize, a gold medal, and have a chance for their story to be published.
