April 30 Deadline for The Dylan Thomas Prize
Last year's winner of the Dylan Thomas Prize was Vietnam-born Nam Le for his collection of short stories, The Boat. This book has been described as a stunningly inventive, deeply moving fiction debut that takes the readers from the slums of Colombia to the streets of Tehran; from New York City to Iowa City; from a tiny fishing village in Australia to a foundering vessel in the South China Sea, in a masterful display of literary virtuosity and feeling.

A prize of £30,000 (approximately $48,000) is given annually to honor a book of poetry or fiction that “displays creative, imaginative, and innovative use of the English language” by a writer under 30. Publishers may submit three copies of a book published between May 1, 2008, and April 30, 2010, by April 30.
