Activist Poetry Festival "Art Attack!", May 2010
Considering engaged literature as a form with a possibility to affect public opinion and introduce positive changes in the society, “Art Attack!” festival is launching its second edition. Topic of the contest is “Street” i.e. homeless people. Authors are asked to explore and elaborate on it in a creative manner introducing one or several problems this growing group in our society is faced with as well as help solving these problems with their thoughts and suggestions.

The contest is international and open for authors up to 30 years of age who send their works in Croatian or English to the e-address art.attack.fest@gmail.com. Authors can participate by sending a maximum of three poems and/or three photographs on the given topic. The jury will choose 15 works which will then be published in a bilingual poetry collection, as well as 15 photographs which will be exhibited during and after the festival.

Together with their work, authors are asked to send basic information about themselves: name and surname, date and country of birth as well as a short biography including author’s literary achievements and ambitions, experience in socially constructive work, volunteering, political engagement etc. Authors will be notified about the results by the end of March, 2010.

The festival will last for five days and, just like the previous year, include different literary and activist events with the aim of affecting a positive change on the social situation. Events will include: photograph exhibition, presentation of the poetry collection and readings of the awarded poetry, discussions, workshops, presentations of organisations participating in the project and actual work with the homeless people. Special program will be created in the cooperation with the Ilirik theatre from Split, main partner of the project.

Awarded authors will be invited to participate in the events in Zagreb and Split in May, 2010. All interested are asked to join the upcoming activities which are open for public, as well as to send their suggestions and help create as productive a program as possible.
