Description: From 2003-5, most of the Nou Hach Literary Project’s budget was provided by a grant from the Toyota Foundation. The Toyota Foundation also sponsored the publication of “The Nou Hach Literary Journal,” Vol 3 in 2006/7 . Volume 5 will be sponsored by a grant from the Jeri Laber International Freedom to Publish Award. Since ts inception in 2001, the Project team has demonstrated fiscal responsibility and success in promoting literature and literacy in Cambodia. We publish the only journal of modern literature in the country, which is now used by many high-school teachers. The time has come for us to take the next step. We need to become self-reliant since many foundations are no longer funding humanities projects in Cambodia.
