Description: The Department of English Language and Literature has a long and distinguished history. It started in 1929 as one of the founder departments of Raffles College. After a period as part of the University of Malaya, and then the University of Singapore, the Department, with the rest of the University of Singapore, later combined with other institutions to form what is the National University of Singapore today.
